I get it... 2020 didn't go as planned. Not for you, not for me, not for any of us. Not just in voice over, either. Most of the world probably feels the same way.

Unless you're setting payment terms with your clients, when you actually get paid may always be a mystery.

The audition part is easy... but what the heck do you write in that proposal box that goes with it?
All the major casting sites give you the opportunity to submit a proposal along with your audition. Though many of them may not get read, I do think there are ways to strategically use that space to increase your chances of getting short-listed (provided your actual audition is good).

One area of voice over that is often overlooked, but has the potential for growth courtesy of COVID is in the Real Estate market. More specifically in real estate virtual tour narration.
Many realtors are already creating virtual tour videos. Not many of them are adding voice over... yet! It's something a lot of realtors have never considered before. Part of your job will be to educate them on the service and the value it can add to their tour videos.

When the COVID-19 pandemic started to really take its toll in March, most voice actors were left scrambling to figure out how to keep their businesses operational... just like nearly every other business owner in nearly every other industry on earth!
Now here we are seven months later. Still in a pandemic. Parts of the economy still impacted, closed or trying to figure out how to recover. Some of our clients are bouncing back. Some of our clients have shuttered their businesses.

For a lot of us, the hopes of our kids returning to school at the end of summer quickly turned into a scramble of us trying to figure out how we were going to deal with kids learning remotely. For many, either schools remain closed, or for safety reasons, the decision was made to keep children at home.
My wife and I are there. She's pregnant, and we didn't feel it was worth the risk to send our kids back yet.
Kysta Wallrauch has been homeschooling her kids from the beginning. Not the beginning of COVID. The beginning of their schooling! I knew she'd have some tips and insights to offer and it's been a pleasure to interview her for this episode of the podcast.
